The Great Optimist Race (Annual Race/Event/ Academy & Fundraiser)
Based on my Adventure and what the Little Optimist has achieved, we are Hosting a world first Great Optimist Race for Adults: Under Table Mountain, at the V&A Waterfront at the Cape Town International Boat Show. By adults, for Kids. The Race is Scheduled for 12 noon 20 OCT 2018. We have bought up or been donated many old Optimist dinghies and have rejuvenated them to be used again. Many Opi’s have been sponsored by Corporates or individuals for the race. After the race, they will donate the Opi to the Sailing Academy and Program for Development/ Poor and sick/ recovering/recovered Kids.
The OPTIMISTIC SAILING ACADEMY
Our Little Optimist Boats will be used by our TRUST and PBO for an Academy & stored at Sailing Clubs across the Western Cape and country eventually. They will be used to teach sick and Needy kids to sail.
A Mobile Sailing Academy is being set up to train and help teach sick and needy kids a skill and a passion. ( and to take them on Great Adventures while teaching them life skills)
These programs will be offered throughout the year to Children in HOSPITAL/ RECOVERING/ IN REMISSION and/ or who are POOR &/or in NEED. The Donated Optimist boats will do GOOD throughout the year and will feature in all sorts of awesome initiatives, with lots of great PR. They will be made available to that sponsor each year for the Great Optimist Race.
