From creating safer conditions for Mother City beach goers via the Muizenberg beach Sharkspotters programme, to re-painting the Red Cross Children’s Hospital, nothing will stop this father of two from believing anything is possible.

Motivated by his own experience with a near fatal heart condition, and an 8-day sailing adventure around the coast; Bertish, in collaboration with renowned illustrator, Chip Snaddon, has authored an inspiring children’s book entitled, “The Little Optimist.”

The book’s central message is — no matter how small and insignificant you might feel, due to whatever challenges you face as a child, you too can achieve great things if you believe in yourself, and the author hopes the book will encourage children who deal with trauma on a daily basis, from illness or disability to bullying or abuse.
